We also want to take a moment to call attention to some of the charities and organizations that made our time in the military a little easier or that we knew would help us should we need it.
Many of you know the USO. They provide so many services to veterans we can't even really sum it up here. We mostly utilized their facilities at airports we were traveling through. Their airport lounges give service members a nice place to relax, use the internet, watch TV and get a snack for free. It is especially nice to spend time in one of their lounges when traveling in uniform. Sometimes traveling in uniform is stressful and this gave us a place to hide away from curious onlookers.
The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society provides emergency assistance and other services to Sailors and Marines and their families.
The Service Women's Action Network, also known as SWAN is an organization that assists women service members and veterans. It's a great resource for women that need assistance with any of a variety of issues they alone face during or after serving. If you know a woman in the military, please consider donating to his organization.
As with any charitable donation, we recommend doing your due diligence first. Check out websites like Charity Navigator or Charity Watch to see how the organization you're planning to donate to scores.
And of course if you buy your cribbage boards and pegs from us, you'll be supporting a veteran owned business! To see even more veteran owned businesses and to find some near you, visit www.veteranownedbusiness.com
